- Joe Yabuki is a short-tempered fighter with natural talent for boxing and raw extraordinary strength and endurance. A formidable brawler that can nail counters precisely as well with a solid technique with willpower made out of practical plated steel.

- A cocky guy that often mocks his opponents, extremely confident man that often solves short-term problems leaving others with planning long-term issues, outgoing and always eager for a fight with superhuman strength even at his weight and supernatural willpower being able to get up even after being brutally beaten and knocked down. Great with kids, being always friendly and playful amongst them. Currently lives in a slum coached by a retired boxing coach who's a drunk in a poorly rundown gym, but he still made it to the OPBF bantamweight world championship.

- Joe Yabuki is a spectacular protagonist with such a well-written tragedy that will surely touch the hearts of many that choose to watch this masterpiece as well as encourage others to go all the way in their pursuit of their dreams! Joe is an incredibly flawed young man who may come off as a callous and uncaring indivdual with little regard for anyone that he has severely injured in his fights or has offended with the cruel words that he would speak with! Beneath his rough and rugged shell lies a boy who has been deprived of something so valuable and precious his whole life up until the day he met the man that changed his life forever! He has been a deprived of the warm protection of a father's love and the gentle embrace of a mother's tenderness! He has been deprived of the affection, friendship, encouragement, and most of all someone who would see Joe for who he is and embrace him for all of his beautiful strengths as well as his flaws! According to Wikipedia, Joe Yabuki was born to Japanese parents of unknown names but he never remembered their faces nor every knew who they were! Joe Yabuki was placed into an orphanage from the time he could remember and this environment was all that he knew! He moved from orphanage to orphanage in which the adults that he was supposed to trust and the adults that had the important job of looking after these orphaned children failed at their duty to provide them with the maternal/fatherly affection and guidance that many of them have more than likely lacked in their lives already! In these many orphanages, Joe suffered much abuse and severe bullying from caretakers and quite possibly other orphans who were just as confused and emotionally challenged as Joe himself! Those orphans may have bullied Joe Yabuki along with the adults because they were also battling with loneliness and a lack of love and guidance in their lives which left them in indecision on how to properly expressed these feelings of pain, agony, sadness, anger, and even fear so they lash out in anger as a coping mechanism and as a way to defend themselves so that they can survive! This in turn sparked Joe Yabuki's independent and hard-headed nature in which he refuses to be tied down or controlled by anyone adult or person who believes themselves to be above him or anyone else! Joe Yabuki ran away from the orphanages to live on his own and away from those who have inflicted oppression, discouragement, sadness, toxicity, and aggression that he has had to endure everyday of his life! These experiences taught Joe he can't trust anybody and he has also learned that adults can project an image of importance to make themselves seem superior and therefore more "righteous" than they may seem! Joe Yabuki has even informed the children of the slums of the underhanded manipulation of the people around them! Joe Yabuki, in spite of the insanely aggressive personality he has, is much more gentler, loving, and fragile than he initially seems! Joe refuses to show any sort of weakness or vulnerability due to his horrendous and lonely upbringing and his intense pride in his masculinity! Joe hides his array of emotions and gentle compassion behind his intense hostility and frightening physical strength to protect himself from being helpless or controlled by anyone else ever again! This has lead to Joe being labeled as a "bull" or a "stray dog due to the way that he carries himself! At his core, Joe Yabuki is a boy who yearns for a purpose in life, he yearns for a family to welcome him home, he yearns for a person to understand him and someone whom he can trust enough to be open and vulnerable with without being met with malice and evil intent by another! Joe Yabuki would one day get his wish when he comes across a former boxing trainer named Tange Danpei! Joe initially didn't trust Danpei since his whole life he has had to fight so many people, put up with the lies and deception of others, and just learn how to survive in a world that wants to hurt him and many others! Joe Yabuki was understandably distrustful of Tange Danpei at first because of refused his offers to go into boxing when Danpei begs him in his drunken state! Joe Yabuki, however, accepted his offer later in his life which would then start the training of one of the best and most formidable boxers in the show! Joe, from then on, would begin boxing under the tutelage of Tange Danpei in which Danpei proved himself to be a highly strict yet extremely compassionate teacher and father figure to Mammoth Nishi and Joe Yabuki! Joe Yabuki, throughout the show, has gone through an immense transformation from the boy that he once was! No longer was he the little boy who was filled with hostility, rage, loneliness, and frustration in his heart from the bullying he has suffered since the tender days of his childhood! No longer was he a boy searching for a purpose in life! He found a home, a purpose, and continues to fight for tomorrow no matter what!
